The Brick Lane Beigel shop is a tasty east London treat which is open twenty fours hours a day for any salt beef or cream cheese and salmon bagels cravings you might have.

The Beigel shop is the oldest and most popular shop in London and is always packed out regardless of the time of day or weather. There is nearly always a queue to the door and usually full of Friday night revellers with the munchies looking for a quick booze soaking snack.

Rumour has it that the beigel shop turns over 7,000 doughy treats a night! The prices are fairly decent and they also have a good selection of cakes and sugary treats including the oddly named but seriously good elephant ears.

The competing bagel shop a few doors down is also worth a visit as they stock more cake and baked goods. Basically if your greedy like me, you can grab a bagel in the first shop then head to the other shop pick up a cake, stuff in your pocket and head down towards one of the bars like Vibe at the other end of Brick Lane with a convenient fat burning walk in the middle.

The bagel shops on Brick Lane are a little rugged around the edges but the staff are always very friendly and quite sympathetic to some customers who are a little worse for wear.

A must-see for anyone wanting to see a traditional side to London which isn’t featured in most guide books and is a regular haunt for most east London locals. I know I have personally knocked back an unreasonable amount of bagels when I lived in the close vicinity of Bethnal Green.
