London Cyclist - 25 London Cycle Routes ebook

We were recently asked to take a look at an ebook from London Cyclist called ‘25 London Cycle Routes’, which unsurprisingly is a list of 25 cycling trips in London. The book costs around seven pounds - which is really decent considering you get lots of ideas for trips out on your bike. So even if you only go on one or two rides then you are getting your monies worth.
If you think of it in terms of pub items it roughly works out at two drinks and will no …

By Yuli Linssen- Kaminitz
London is one of the most vibrant cities in Europe- Unlimited number of museums, more than 100 theaters, the famous royal family, numerous vintage shops and of course Katt Moss. Even though London attracts more than 27 Million tourists a year, many people from outside Europe still find it an extremely expensive destination to visit.

V&A 1:1 Architects Build Small Spaces

As an avid exhibition buff and architecture enthusiast (I sound like such a geek) I went to check out the V&A’s 1:1 contemporary exhibition based in the Porter Gallery and around parts of the V&A. I have to say, I thought this was one of their most successful exhibitions to date, enabling the viewer to not only experience the architectural installations themselves, but to explore parts of the V&A they may not have done previously.
The V&A is clearly trying hard to change their image of a slightly stuffy museum stuck …

16 cycling tips for riding a bike in London

Riding a bike in London is like being in the jungle, there are certain rules you should follow if you want to get out alive and unscathed! I have been cycling around London for a while now and consider myself a fairly competent cyclist having been down the Death Road in Bolivia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yungas_Road) and the Scar Road in Nepal (http://indicatorloops.com/scar/scar.htm).
However I have still managed to get into some close shaves in the capital which have, on post reflection been quite amusing, like slamming into the back of a taxi, narrowly …

Tokyo Pop Up Shop on Commercial Street

We recently wrote about Tokyo Bike’s pop up shop in London which is now open!
The shop is situated just over the road from All Saints in Spitalfield’s near to fourteen bikes and the ten bells pub of Jack the Ripper fame. The opening night was rammed so made it a little difficult to check out the bikes but they seemed pretty cool, all in vibrant colours and loads of different shapes and sizes.
The shop will be open for six weeks and selling Tokyo Bike’s range of road and town …

Look mum no hands!

A relatively new fixture on the cycling circuit in London Look mum no hands! is an ultra-cool little café tucked between two post-war office blocks on Old Street (the Farringdon end). This spot is ideal for a pit stop on a long Sunday ride or as a meeting point for catching up with fellow cycling enthusiasts. The venue is quite open and reminiscent of a Swedish ski lodge with blonde pine tables and cosy benches running the length of the establishment. It’s quite easy to get settled in a let …

Tokyo Bike pop-up shop

Tokyo Bike are a well established bike company in Japan and this Summer are opening a pop-up shop in London. At the moment everything is very hush hush but you can check out their bikes on the website for the company and get a feel for the type of bike they make.
It looks like most of the bikes come with smaller 650cc wheels (as opposed to standard 700cc) which are fitted with slicker tyres to give a smoother ride around London. They make both single speed and geared bikes …

Nocturne 2010

The Nocturne Smithfield race took place on the 19th of June 2010 and an estimated 10,000 people attended. We cycled along to the event and took in some of the stands and hilarious races before the main event kicked off!
The Nocturne Smithfield is basically a series of bicycle events that involve racing around Smithfield market. This year’s line-up included a folding bicycle race which was funny but highly competitive and quite a bizarre sight as lots of people in suits pegging it around Smithfield market five times isn’t something you …
