Now if you’re anything like me, the sentence ‘South of the River’ is always followed by a shudder and feeling of foreboding. My last experience of South of the River dining was one dodgy Mr Fish bar very late one Friday night when after several cocktails quite frankly anything seemed like a good idea. Well this really wasn’t a great idea as nursing our stomach aches the general group consensus was that we’d had our insides violated and the reason for this of course was that we were …

Ok I know this is THIS Saturday but I only just found out about it! I don’t even class myself as a photographer but do enjoy taking the odd snap when out and about and have heard some rumblings about the government’s activities regarding taking photos in public. Having read some of the info on the events website (which is very nice looking) photographernotaterrorist.org I have decided as a lot of other people out there on the interweb that enough is enough! Also it could be a good opportunity to …

I have recently moved back to the Hackney area (which I love!) and was recently debating the plethora of famous names that seem to use the trendy East London district as some sort of branding exercise. The Abercrombie and Fitch shop is in West London close to Oxford Circus underground station, easily within walking distance. It is located just round the corner from the Apple Store on Regents Street, and the nearby Quiksilver outlet. The Abercrombie store is a little hidden away around the corner behind Regents Street on a street called Burlington Gardens.
Abercrombie is pretty massive in America and the London store is the only outlet in the UK and is known as the UK flagship shop. The shop is somewhat of a tourist attraction …

Not to worry though because a lot of great things to do in London are annual and you can also catch them next year and the next time round. For example even after living in London for ages I still haven’t managed to time the Notting Hill Carnival right and always seem to be away that weekend, although I fully …

London is one of the most expensive places to live in the world! Rent prices are considerable higher than most other cities and the recent credit crunch has made it almost impossible get by.
However there is light at the end of the tunnel and every cloud does indeed have a silver lining. Since the economic crisis began towards the end of 2008, thousands of jobs have been slashed and companies have announced record profit losses.
As a result various high street brands, restaurants and shops have had to resort to producing …

Another quirky aspect of London life are the ‘Baby on Board’ badges which were first tested out in 2005 at International Women’s Day events. Since then they have been introduced in Beijing as “to-be mum” badges, by the Beijing Municipal Health Bureau and also more recently in Tokyo.
A simple but effective idea the badges can be picked up by any pregnant women at most London underground stations and variations of the classic TFL badge can also be picked up at Mothercare stores and on ebay.
Several studies have been carried out …

You can find all these tips on the tube section as well as some useful maps and travel widgets for checking the status of tube lines. Using public transport can push even a saints patience but the next time you are enraged by slow tourists or rushing commuters try to remember a few of these tube etiquette tips!
1. Always let people off the tube first!
2. Never lean against the doors - this affects the braking system and makes the tube jerk!
3. Don’t bother pressing the ‘open’ button - it doesn’t work!
4. Don’t stop in …
